Randy Reichert
Hi, I'm Randy Reichert. Welcome to my profile!
Randy Reichert's Bio:
Randy Reichert is a mining executive with over twenty-five years of mining experience and is also founder and current President of NW3 Mining Consultants Inc. Randy holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering from Queen’s University, concentrating his graduate studies in rock mechanics, ground support and mine design. He also holds a degree in Business Administration, which he earned in 2001 from Simon Fraser University. In addition to his education, Randy is registered as a professional engineer in the Province of Ontario.
Randy’s mining career began in 1993 when he started work for Cominco Ltd, one of the leading zinc and copper producers. During his ten years with Cominco, Randy served with increasing responsibility, first as a mine engineer, then as a senior mine engineer, and finally serving as a mine superintendent.
Working at Cominco’s Polaris, Snip, and Sullivan mines in Nunavut and British Columbia, Randy gained deep experience in planning, supervising and forecasting mine operations, as well as optimizing operations for improved efficiency and reduced cost. As superintendent of the zinc-lead Polaris Mine, Randy helped increase the mine’s lifespan by over 16 months during a three-year period, an achievement which increased mine production by over 40% and reduced unit costs. He also gained valuable practical experience working as an underground miner and supervisor.
In 2002, Randy broadened his mining experience on an international level when he began work in Russia with Bema Gold Corp. Randy followed this by work with Oriel Resources and executive assignments with junior mining companies in Kazakhstan, Brazil and the United States.
Serving as General Manager for Bema Gold, Randy led two of the company’s mining projects. At Bema Gold’s Julietta Mine, Randy guided the mine from development to production stage, while operating on a strict project budget. During his four years at the Julietta Mine, Randy assisted in earning an excellent safety record for the mine through improved training and control, and achieved over 21 months without a mine accident. At the company’s Kupol Mine, he was responsible for the development of the world-class gold mine, managing a team of in-house miners and technical staff.
Starting in 2007, Randy served as Chief Operating Officer for Oriel Resources in London. As Chief Operating Officer, Randy was responsible for Oriel’s operations, including a 160,000 tonnes per annum ferrochrome smelter in Russia. Randy oversaw this smelter through its transition from construction to operation and commissioned three additional furnaces for the company prior to Mechel taking buying Oriel for $1.5 billion cash.
Following his work with Oriel Resources, Randy enjoyed a number of executive assignments with junior mining producers, which provided him opportunity to further his experience in leading mining projects through development to production while reducing cost and improving safety performance.
In 2013, after more than two decades of mining experience, Randy founded NW3 Mining Consultants Inc., a Toronto-based mining consulting firm that provides knowledge and services to a range of base metal and precious metal producers. As President of NW3 Mining Consultants Inc., Randy leads the firm as it assists its clients with project due diligence, troubleshooting and the implementation of cost-reduction strategies. NW3 Mining’s consultants are experts in the mining space and have extensive experience in both open pit and underground mining.
